50 hours of music with over 450 concerts, piano lessons, tributes to great masters and new performances not only in Milan but, for the first time, beyond the boundaries of the city. This was the sixth edition of Piano City Milano.
A weekend devoted to music – free of charge and for everyone - saw public attendance exceeding expectations even to the Piano Nights (night-time performances) and dawn concerts, reminding Milan and its people that such events can produce culture and beauty. The popularity of the festival consolidates a model, shared and appreciated by a diverse audience, highlighting how Piano City Milano is an event that not only belongs to, but that it is also capable to portray transformations of the city.
The protagonist of the opening concert in the gardens of Villa Reale on Friday evening was Chilly Gonzales: thousands of people came to the highly anticipated concert of the eclectic Canadian musician and singer. From the piano marathons at night to the concerts at dawn, up to the magical atmospheres of courtyards and house concerts, Piano City Milano was able to involve not only the whole city but, for the first time, also the surrounding area (the provinces of Milan, Como, Monza-Brianza and Bergamo). Over 100,000 citizens, tourists and enthusiasts explored Milan and rediscovered, through music, not only the iconic venues of the event, but also courtyards, private houses and secret gardens. Thanks to Piano City, Milan is a city in love with piano music.
