The eighth edition of Piano City Milano was held with over 460 concerts throughout the city all of them free of charge. Also in this edition a large number of participants was recorded despite the bad weather. Houses, courtyards, squares, parks, museums, terraces have resounded in a continuous declaration of love for the piano, its music and for the city of Milan.
The main stage of the Piano Center Diurno (at the GAM garden) was the protagonist of the main concerts, including the opening concert on Friday, May 17 with the famous Icelandic pianist Ólafur Arnalds. Also this year, at the stroke of midnight, Palazzina Liberty was transformed into the Nocturnal Piano Center, a meeting place for the piano lovers with electronic music and experimentation.
At the center of media attention for its social importance, the concert at the Boschetto di Rogoredo (sadly renowned for drug dealing), starring pianist Emanuele Misuraca. Piano City Milano has contributed to tell the story of the important activity aimed at removing this important green space in Milan from illegality, with the intense work of institutions, authorities and associations. Other important and successful events include: concerts at the Casa Circondariale (jail) San Vittore by Simone Quatrana and Ettore Bove; two dawns, one on Saturday with Alessandra Stréliski at the Palazzina Liberty and one on Sunday with Francesco Taskayali at the Ippodromo Snai San Siro; the concert by Ginevra Costantini Negri at the Refettorio Ambrosiano and the performance by Dardust at Gratosoglio neighbourhood.
