Created as a joke 30 years ago, the theatrical performance “Risotto” had its on-stage debut in room B of the Politecnico di Roma and has since travelled around the world, cooking and serving from Rome to Milan, Paris to Saint Petersburg, from Spain to Brazil. The two actors, who actually cook during the show, are both friends and university professors: Amedeo Fago, a historical figure of theatre and cinema and Fabrizio Beggiato, professor of romance philology. Risotto tells the story of how a lasting friendship is amalgamated during the preparation of a real risotto, ending with a final tasting in which the public takes part.
There are many flavourful scenes of the 70s, which accompany the viewers but also timeless values like that of a real friendship, told with both intensity and irony. The risotto prepared is always different, with a new recipe every evening. In occasion of the 30th year of the show, in January 2009, Risotto was presented in the “Salone d’Onore” (Honour Hall) at the Triennale of Milan followed by performance at the Franco Parenti Theatre.
